Cara Install Microsoft Sql Server 2008 Management Studio Express

Hi Papy,If you already have SQL Express 2008 Basic and all you want is to add Management Studio 2008 Basic, I recommend installing the new standalone package. (Your third option) This new package does not require you to perform the Edition Upgrade step that causes folks so many fits. It was great to see that the SQL Tools team decided to release this standalong package. If you're looking for more than just Management Studio 2008 Basic, then you'll need to install the appropriate edition based on the features you want. This requires you to go through Edition Upgrade as documented in the blog.Regards,MikeThis posting is provided 'AS IS' with no warranties, and confers no rights. We are in the process of upgrading to SQL Server 2008, which means I will eventually have users that will need to upgrade from SQL Server Managememt Studio (SSMS) 2005 to SSMS 2005 to 2008. I have not been able to find any good adviceon how to upgrade only the Management Studio. Can anyone recommend a good site, kb article, etc. That deals with this? When I upgraded my client utilities (2005 to 2008) I had to basically go through the full install process just to pull MSMS out unless I wanted the Express version. In the past we have offered our users the full blown version of SSMS (2000 and2005) and depended on permissions to disallow use of management objects. I have some users that will be able to utilize the 2008 Express version of SSMS but I will also need a plan for developers who work with and manage SSAS,SSRS, and SSIS and will need to upgrade to the NON-express version.
